We don't just to want get more comments from our blogs. Aside from getting more visitors and increasing readership, we also want to interact with our readers and promote a healthy relationship online. But how can they convey or post their thoughts if they can't leave a comment?

There are different reasons why your reader may not be able to leave a blog comment. Among the possible reasons are:

1. Comments are closed or disable.

2. Unable to read or properly enter the recaptcha image verification or word verification.

3. The page keeps saying can't be displayed even after submitting the comment.

4. Being required to login.

5. Complicated commenting system.

Of course there are many other reasons and it vary from reader to reader. The thing in common is that they want everything to be easier. A blog reader will be more engaged if he or she can share your thoughts and be able to read his or her comment back along with your reply.

Now, with Blogger blogs/.blogspot blogs, most of them have the word verification enabled by default. While having it on can lessen spam, sometimes, it can cause pain to those who would like to post a comment. The solution is to disable the recaptcha image verification or word verification and have all comments moderated. This setting can encourage more comments and will eventually drive more traffic to your blogs.

If you are using an old Blogger interface, here is how to do it:

1. Click “Settings” on the blog you would like to modify.

2. Click on “Comments”

3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page until you see the option for “Show word verification for comments?”.

4. Choose “No”.

5. Click “Save Settings” button and that's it.

If you are using the new and updated Blogger interface, you have to switch back to the old one for you to be able to make this changes since there's no way to access this settings on the new interface. Don't worry, once you are done with this changes, you can revert back to the updated Blogger interface.

This actually applies to all Facebook fan page. Unlike before that you have to click "Manage Pages" under your personal account, you now have an option to click on "Use Facebook as a Page" under your Account's dropdown menu to manage your created pages.

I am inspired to share my next tip because the most recent feedback from my clients are so encouraging and heart-warming. I was happy with the payment I received, but what made me happier are the positive comments and kinds words from them:

As for feedback policy, oDesk stated that:

Feedback is essential to the proper functioning of oDesk’s marketplace. Just want to add something. When submitting a sample for a job you are applying for, make sure that it is relevant for the position or job specifications. If the job posting is all about relationship articles, don't attach previous work about loans and refinancing. Though the client can still see your writing style and check your grammar, it is still important to highlight your abilities and market your talent by showing off your best and most related work.

A provider and buyer's feedback is based on 5 criteria. All having a 0-5 star rating, 5 being the highest:

Jazz up your oDesk profile through an impressive résumé. Fill it up with positive feedback!

On Getting the Job Done
- Before working on your assignment, check the original job posting. Make sure you are following the tasks specified and meeting all the requirements. This can help you gain high scores for Skills and Quality.

- Be there when the client needs you. I know that the different time zones make it challenging for all of us but allocating a little portion of your time to the buyer by informing him or her about the updates is a plus for your Availability and Communication score.

- Be responsible. Be true to your words. Finish the job on time. Most clients are from US and they are strict when it comes to Deadline. There is no such thing as Filipino time. Take it from the American culture.

- Be versatile and passionate about your job. When client requested you to modify something or informed you about sudden change of plan, as long as it is reasonable, take it light-heartedly. Your bonus will be reflected on Cooperation score. There are even buyers who pay more than your bid if they are highly satisfied with the job!

1. Have a sample article ready. You can showcase your talent by directing the clients to your decent blogs or portfolio. (Note: Having a great blog is like hitting two birds in one stone. Instant traffic from the client, and a grand presentation for him or her to get your dream job.)

2. Never ignore the instructions on the job posted. If the client wants you to type in the secret code, make sure you do it. It's a matter of test. If you can not follow simple instructions, what more on bigger writing responsibilities.

3. Subscribe to oDesk job alerts so that you'll be updated with the current job postings. To make it simpler, while you are browsing for the jobs you may MODIFY Search in different criteria then click SAVE SEARCH. You will get your daily job alerts.

And here are my personal ODESK tips:

1. Focus on quality not quantity in terms of job application.
This is not being pessimistic, but if you think you're not likely the best candidate for that job opening, shrug it off and apply to a different one instead. (Especially that you have a job quota.)

2. Personalize your cover letter and be professional. Address the needs and required skills listed. Sending the same cover letter over and over again is not so impressive. Yes, you can have a cover letter template but make sure it suits the job you are applying for. I am not a fan of generic greeting/openings either. I make sure to check the main page of job posting to at least get the name of the client so that I can address him/her properly with:

Hi {insert FIRST NAME here}
or
Dear {Salutation (Mr/Ms) insert LAST NAME here}

3. Update your ODESK profile and market yourself.

4. Take Odesk TESTS. (Though, I did not take any aside from the readiness examination.)

5. Only apply to jobs posted by verified buyer. Though unverified ones still pay, you won't be able to withdraw your earnings from them unless they verify their account. Otherwise, ODESK will hold the paid amount.

6. Set up your job alerts. It's good to be updated about latest job posting. Plus, it pays to apply early! One of the common reason I get when I did not get the job is: "All Positions Filled". No matter how qualified you are in a certain job, your chances become limited if you're one of the few late applicants. Most buyers interview applicants based on the date of application.

7. Do your best on every job once you get it. Aside from getting good feedback, the buyer can add you to their favorites. I have been FAVORITEd once (on my profile) but I have 3 consistent clients who always email me once they have a new job opening. Of course when people are satisfied with your work, they will be the one to look for you. ^_^

I then priced the link for $1 each and after more than 30-days, no one bothered to buy a link. My blog is already PR 2 and receiving lots of unique visitors daily through Adgitize and Entrecard but then again, no one seems to be interested. After placing it on my top left side bar, prioritizing an excellent advertising space in my blog, still... I don't think anyone bothered to click.

I, myself, have my own reasons for not purchasing a link on other blogger's LinkShowOff. For one, I'd rather advertise with Adgitize than buy a single link which has a tag, "rel=nofollow". Plus, 125X125 ad are more prone to "clicks" compared to anchor texts.

The links shown in the LinkShowOff widget are made nofollow as per Google's guidelines.

Second, a fee of $3 per transaction is way too much. ODESK just charged $1 per withdrawal so why can't they? Okay, I have nothing against LSO, but for now, let me just wave goodbye.

Wow! It's been a while since I last checked my RS account and I was so surprised to see the current review rate: $2.50! I started with them when they buy consumer reviews for $2.00 and my first payment reached $58. Since then, I was not able to write more reviews since I've been busy exploring other earning sites. Right now, I still have $37 on my account and my last review was written last 11th of November. I have actually lots of items to review, it's just I don't have enough time.

I wonder if all of us are subscribed to Jobstreet Newsletters and alerts. Even if I am currently employed, I still opt to receive email notifications from them. I find it informative and beneficial. Just a while ago, I spent a few minute reading these tidbits:

Confidence
Nervousness or being jittery are common feelings experienced by a candidate during interview. Avoid feeling inadequate for the position you are applying to. The fact that you were requested for an interview means that you were pre-qualified by the recruiter based on your resume alone. It also means you have bested some of the other candidates for the position.

Another way to gain confidence is to research information about the company before your interview. Gaining knowledge about the company would give you the confidence when you are asked what you know about the company.

Learning opportunity and Improvement
Treat every interview as a learning experience and a way to improve. If you have not been successful from your previous interviews, do not let it frustrate you. Try to remember what questions you had difficulty answering, and learn how to come up with a better answer. When similar questions are again asked, you will be prepared to come up with a better answer.

Interviews can also be a way an opportunity to learn something about the company, other people and even your self. If you are given the chance to ask, do not be afraid to ask about the company or the position you are applying for. This will give the interviewer the impression that you are interested to learn more about their company.

Showing up for a confirmed interview
Being late for an appointment or failure to show up for an interview on an agreed time will create a negative impression against you. As a candidate, it is your responsibility to show up to an agreed schedule. If for some unforeseen reason, you will not be able to attend the interview, you must inform your interviewer 24 hours before the appointment. But make sure that you have a valid reason in resetting the appointment.
